I had to work outside Monday & Tuesday morning. I don't think I've ever been more cold in my life I was those 2 days.

Trumbull got barely a covering yesterday. Started to snow here again, but don't think we'll be getting much of anything for this coating today. If we get an inch today, we should consider ourselves lucky.

Snowing in Wallingford, ground is about coated with a thin layer. Looks like we are getting more today than when they actually forecasted snow for yesterday. Fine with me, unfortunately it won't last based on the radar though

Incoming!

There it is... what we been waiting for.... (ok, maybe just a select few of us. lol).

This map is showing the air mass temps above us (4500') which in turn controls the surface air temp (not to an exact).

-20°C line (where white and purple meet) is now pushing east to the coast now. Temps will be dropping going forward now and really feeling the wind bite.

Record temp at this level is -26C over Long Island. -30°C over DC . So while not historic, it's not something we see often!

Had there been blocking to our north this would last more than a couple days.

In 2-3 hrs Nashville drops from 22° to 17°. Binghamton 10° to 3°. During the day! Should be fun to see the CT OBS.. Curious to hear yours as well. Post away. :-)

What I think is more impressive about this coming cold is it is not really being enhanced by snow cover.....

On that note... saw a cool discussion on twitter with a couple of mets. They were making bets if Boston would hit 0 this year. Last year this time there was a snow pack but temps aloft were a bit less cold. This year no snowpack but colder aloft.

Makes a HUGE difference at the surface when you have snow cover. Especially points west, the air is just colder all around.

Stat time... be back with some.. Are you guys curious about anything for BDR or BDL?
