Lowest temp of the season with 7 here in Branford. Pretty impressive considering I am just a mile or two from the shoreline. I think having a snowpack has a huge effect on the temps as well.

Cambium,

Are you seeing ANY hints that the 2nd half of Feb will have above normal temps, and storms that generally bring rain instead of snow???

I'm really getting sick of this, esp after the same thing last winter.

Didn't last winter you go hiking or camping in the Adirondacks in the subzero cold? Posted a picture as well.

Long range models showing cold and snow locked in for quite awhile with no warmup in sight.

Gas up the plane and fly south. I hear Key West is warm.

No..... but who knows past 2 weeks. You should camp out in CT like you did in the Arctic that time. LOL!

Here's Danbury data from GFS... There is just no warmup in sight next 2 wks. Snowpack thickens & Cold Air deepens. (Anything past 10 days can change)

It will be even lower Tuesday morning. NWS has subzero lows for ALL of CT (except BDR which they estimate at 0, I think their last subzero low was in Jan 2004 and before that Jan of 1994). Even Central Park they think will be 1-deg, this means that even they and BDR have about a 50% chance of an elusive subzero low (I mentioned the rarity of it for NYC, especially in Feb. in a prior post and as well the rarity that this will likely produce of Boston having 2 non-consecutive subzero lows in the same winter).

There's actually a 2nd chance at it on Friday night, but no numbers from NWS yet as their current forecast only goes out to Friday daytime right now, but tonight or tomorrow we'll know what they think on that.

I take all those forecasted lows with a huge grain of salt. I still have yet to get below five degrees this year. With this snow pack maybe that'll happen.

I think they are starting to back off from it especially with models suggesting freezing rain and sleet may mix in in NYC and possibly even coastal CT. NWS is sticking with these lows for now but TWC and accuweather have them about 5-10 degrees higher now.
