There's something to like in each neighboring state. I love Boston, and I really like Newport. I hate New York City and its immediate environs, but there are other parts of the state that I like.

Wow. I truly don't understand what's wrong with people on this site sometimes. Apparently they're all new york natives?

And i'm not really into outdoorsy things, but even I was taken back. Upstate NY is like a giant nature preserve with extreme (frigid) weather and a distressed economy. In any case, scenery is not why I'm voting for New York. I'm voting for New York simply because NYC is the best city ever!
So pretty. Looks like Norway. You're lucky!

Ditto. My parents live in Charlestown, RI so I love South County of RI, too. I lived in the Boston area for 12 years and would go back for sure. NYC is too much for me, but I love the Saratoga area and Finger Lakes region.

I like Rhode Island. It has beautiful beaches and some lovely waterfront communities (in particular, Watch Hill, Little Compton, and Newport). Massachusetts is fine, but not somewhere I've ever wanted to live. I currently live in NYC though I'm from CT, and while it's okay, it's not somewhere I want to live long-term. Upstate New York can be beautiful, but like most people when I think of New York I think of the city, though I know there's much more to it than that.
