I have an antenna in the attic that worked great up until few days ago. I used to get all CT TV stations including Channel 8 (ABC WTNH) in HD without any problems, but suddenly I am not getting WTNH any longer. I also have an indor HD antenna that had no problems receiving channel 8, but that one failed (at the same time frame) also. I called the TV station. They said there was no change in their transmission. I am very puzzled. Any ideas why?

Check the wires. Something could have come lose. Also cheak the antenna itself. If it is old it may be time for a new one. Jay

Three different TV's with three different antenna setups (one in the attic and two amplified indoor antennas). All three have stopped receiving Channel 8 on the same day, so I don't believe my antennas and TVs are the problem. They all had perfect reception up untill few days ago.
My guess is the snow and ice storm took place in CT. Maybe, the signals are bouncing off the terrain covered with a layer of ice and causing interference with each other along the way from Hamden to where I am (which is about 40 miles away). Another guess is the transmitter is covered with snow and ice lost some of its transmission power just enough for my stuff to fail due to distance. Are these possible? I don't know much about this stuff.

Is the antenna you're using capable of VHF-high band reception? (Channels 7 to 13) WTNH-TV uses VHF channel 10 for their digital transmission. I'm getting them just fine here in New Britain's south end. I only have an old Radio Shack indoor antenna, with two telescoping rods. My TV sits by a south-facing second floor window.

Strange! I just started receiving Channel 8 again with all my three setups, as good as before.
I think there was a problem with their transmission for a couple of days and it seems be fixed now (what ever it was).
I am happy!

I really believe that channel 8 is blocking transmission of sporting events, i.e, football, basketball. Maybe they have an agreement with Comcast as I have the same problems, but only when there is a sporting event on.

I highly doubt that. Your profile's zip code says Northford, CT. You should easily receive channel 8 with an indoor antenna. My relative's Frontier service was showing the Oakland vs Houston NFL Wildcard game earlier on both channel 8 and WABC-TV (ABC) channel 7 of New York City. Nothing was being blacked out.

I'm in Middletown and don't get channel 8 or any NYC or Boston Channels. I only have a very cheap antenna ($10) in a north facing window (west available but not so good) and the new cheap antenna is better than just the coaxial cable. I have a $13 antenna coming this week-we'll see if I can pick up 8 or others. The one I have says on the box it goes 40 miles and I'm only about 20 from Hamden where 8 transmits.
