The MLS number is F980237. It's been on the market since 05/09/2007 without a price reduction. The square footage is 51,657, and the property taxes are $79,685 (three separate parcels combined). No...it's not my listing!

Summers here can be rather warm to hot- with at times unpleasant levels of humidity will make you sweat.

I have known several people who grew up in California and who moved to the eastern half of the country; every one of them had trouble adjusting to heat/humidity or cold or both.

Absolutely stunning. What would someone do with 51,000 square feet? My house is 2900 square feet and I have trouble filling my rooms!

The homes in and around Westport are some of the most magnificent in the state of CT. Plus, the train to NYC puts you in Manhattan in an hour. There are 4 seasons, the ocean is 10 minutes away, and all of the excitement of NYC is right down the road. There are no earthquakes, forest fires, paparazzi, crazy fast sprawl, and the zoning is very strict (prohibiting big box stores).
Check it out and you'll see the quality of life in Fairfield County, CT is some of the best I've seen.

No, I have never been to Westport. Sounds interesting. I'm planning a visit with my daughter sometime next year. I may even drop in later this month for a long weekend of sightseeing.

I'm orginally from the Chicago area, so I know a little bit about cold, heat, and humidity. I can imagine CA natives having much trouble in such weather. Not impossible to adjust to though. I think going from San Diego to Minnesota is an an bigger adjustment.

Fast paced?
"We have a large amount of Cali transplants - the homes on both sides of mine have families from Irvine and San Diego. They love it here, but say the pace of life is a bit quicker and folks are a lot more reserved."
I found this an interesting observation and wonder if it is possible for you (or they) to expound a bit. Coming from Long Beach, CA myself, I feel like our pace is pretty swift - or at least that is one of my reasons for relocating to CT. We have visited for a month every summer for about 10 years now, and i have never noticed the pace there to be any faster, although I have heard people refer to this many times...I am just curious what makes people feel this way...any insights?
Thanks! I love CT, and cannot wait to be there - June cannot come fast enough for me.

Wow, I went by that place every time I went to the mall when I lived in Farmington (I was a teenager at the time, so I went to the mall a lot *g*). I'd always wondered what it looked like. This was before Mike Tyson had owned it, even, and it was already a game to figure out who would buy such a place.
