Silly question: What are the best links to use to browse for-sale listings in various CT towns, that will show the property taxes as well as other details such as whether or not it's public water, sewer/septic, etc etc?
I first tried this link thinking it was the standard MLS for CT, but every town search function takes me to a site called "foreclosurefortunes". NOT what I'm looking for, LOL
I then tried the same search on Find CT Homes For Sale and Connecticut Real Estate Information - CTReal.com and did a search for listings in Canton. The first 4 listings I clicked on did not give the property taxes anywhere (thus useless to me) and didn't specify the water source (although it did say Septic for waste). Two of them didn't even give the lot size. The information seems extremely bare-bones on this site.
Any suggestions for some more comprehensive informative sources? What I'm looking for is somethign that will show me the property taxes, house square footage, lot size, water source (well or public), waste (septic or sewer), and whether or not it's in an HOA. Thanks :-)
Any of the real estate websites, ( trulia, zillow, realtor, etc. ) will give you what is listed on MLS services.
They will tell you if there is public water or sewer . Septic means septic system, an individual on site private system ( not city sewer).
There are virtually no HOA in CT for single family homes. You'll find lake associations, beach associations in the state and the once in a very blue moon a HOA for a subdivision. However, for the most part they are few and far between. This is not something you really have to worry about.
What you might find if you're looking in a new or somewhat newer subdivision is possibly some restrictive covenants. These may restrict such things as what you can park on site such as large boats, large RV's etc. They could state what kind of fence you could have. You would have to read the deed for the property to find if these exist unless you had a very astute real estate agent. However, even these are not very common.
Unfortunately, most web sites don't give the taxes. Look on the internet for the town's assessment data. Find the property and the assessment, then multiply by the mill rate.
most towns in ct use visionappraisal, a website that gives the town assessor's office's details regarding each property. Used in conjunction with zillow and realtor.com, you can get most of the information that you need about properties.
