well, the national mall & museums has 25,000,000 visitors each year. Faneuil Hall in Boston gets 20 million.

Just surprised that a state as big as Oregon's top attraction only gets 400K visitors per year?

I was there a couple of years ago. Absolutely spectacular attraction! But it suffers from a remote location. No major cities nearby. San Fran and Portland are both several hours away. But it's easily combined with a trip to the Redwoods National Park. If anybody has the means, I cannot recommend these two parks highly enough. The splendor of nature is far more impressive than any man made tourist trap. If you can't go, at least google it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'm having a tough time believing that a moderately sized state park gets more visitors than Mohegan and Foxwoods.

I would of thought more people go to Vegas Strip. But then you have those parades and New Years which creates a traffic mess for me to leave work.

Doing a Google search with the names of the attraction and "annual visitors" shows that Foxwoods attracts 16 million annual visitors, Mohegan Sun attracts 12.7 million annual visitors, and Hammonasset attracts 1 million visitors. Not sure where they got the 19 million number for Hammonasset, but it appears to be way off.

Hmm, looking at it they probably meant that due to where the comma is placed, but they included an extra zero.

I think Hammonassett versus Mohegan may be a matter of semantics.

Tourists are people from out of the area visiting somewhere. Maybe 1.9 people visiting CT or driving through visit the state park. The casinos attract both tourists but also heavily the locals. Probably wouldn't call many of the people at the casinos tourists.

It otherwise doesn't make any sense as the casinos get far more visitors than any CT state park.

I find it sad that the most popular attraction in the entire country is Mall of America ...
