One thing I hate about CT is that people have no clue what some southern sayings mean. Almost every restaurant I was at within 8 years had no clue what pop is. Y'all call it "colas."

No, we call it soda, lol! And that's the American way of saying it cause we are New England, and we are the REAL America.

Kidding! But, most people in the Northeast know that other regions of the United States have different name for "soda" including pop and cola. I'm surprised they didn't catch on. I imagine most wouldn't get it the first time, but when you tell 'em, they'll realize it that you're one of the folks who calls it by another name!

One thing I would like to mention about the South overall (including Florida) is the grass. Grass in the Northeast just looks SO MUCH better. I don't know if it's a different type or what, but, like how people prefer palm trees, well, I like the grass of Connecticut. The ones I rolled around in the South look....artificial (Note: I said look, not that it really is).

I'm willing to bet... actually I know that the southerners have little clue what our "New England" words mean. I see that you live in CT so you shouldn't have much trouble. Try these on your southern friends.

Take a stab at the following without using Google

Tag Sale
Grinder
Clicker
Fluff'a'Nutta
Rotary
Going to the "Packie"
Down Cellar
Elastic
Jimmie's (goes on Ice Cream)
Pock-a-Book
Parlor
Tin-Foil

I'll wait :-)

I've lived in Connecticut my whole life and the only reference I'm not getting is "elastic." Are we talking about rubber bands? Only things I call "elastics" are my ponytail ties!

Actually I think most places in the south call them Colas (or is it just Coke? Even if it's not Coke? I dunno).

It's soda. Actually, it's whatever kind of specific soda you want. But you say this like it's any more normal for you guys to be calling it pop.

And calling sneakers "tennis shoes." You wear them for more than just tennis, y'know?
