If that's the case then their really is no debate as to which way is quicker, so why would anyone take I95 if they just want to get to Boston as fast as possible ?

Ive done this trip at least 1,200 times. Even though 87-84-90 is anywhere from 17-32 miles longer, it is faster every time, nonmatter what time of day, but the busier the more advantageous it is.. Not a single slow down the whole way. Beside tolls the speedo NEVER drops below 60 mph from the time I leave the island tunnel/bridge and average speed is 10-20mph greater than possible on any other route. Distance is all about AVERAGE speed.

I liked that route when I lived in Westchester but now,it would take me well out of my way.
