Hi!
I'm relocating to Connecticut very soon for job in Danbury- what are reccomended towns for a young single late twenties young professional to live in? Looking for low crime towns, access to restaurants and lounges- not interested in college scene- more of a chic area with rent ranging between 1100-1400 for an apartment? would like to keep commute under 45 minutes with car. Really appreciate all details and opinions! Thanks!

Maybe look into Norwalk. It's about 45 minutes depending on where in Danbury, and a reverse commute for traffic. Danbury doesn't have much of a scene for young professionals.

If you are going to Norwalk, I would go to South Norwalk. A lot of young people there with good nightlife.

Agree, but it's more expensive generally. Although a small place at $1400 should be doable nearby.

OP, on Zillow, the cheapest rental in SoNo is 975 square feet with 1 Bed and 1 Bath for 1.7K. If you cant go over by that much, Norwalk will still be ideal. The Danbury suburbs may be cheaper, but not many, if any rentals.

You can get away with a rental near the hospital or East Norwalk for less and it's still very close to the action.

Black Rock is another possibility and cheaper than Norwalk but over 45 min .

Over 45 minutes AND you are with traffic. By 7AM traffic along 95 and the Merritt is slow between Bridgeport to I-287 in NY. In the afternoon, 95 starts looking ugly by 2:00PM with the Merritt slow by 3:00PM. Also, traffic on the weekends is getting worse also.

Black Rock to Danbury wouldn't touch those roads. You take 25 (or even 58) and it's against traffic.

Still, probably not worth it but it is a good social scene.

Ah! im just amazed and grateful you all are contributing, so fast! thanks so much, and will check those locations out!Im still learning all the highways and any traffic history details are so helpful.

I'm also wondering, are there other towns which have a chic scene, perhaps smaller, to live in and then commute on weekends to norwalk and other social hot spots? Im single with a dog, and am trying to calculate taking care of the piooch first before/after work etc into living location, distance, time drive, local hot spots etc.... thanks thanks and keep it comin!
