Default best school system around Manchester area?

My family is looking into moving near or in Manchester...Glastonbury seems to be the best and safest school system from what I have researched but I am looking for some local opinions..

Simsbury and West Harttford are good too.. Stay away from East Hartford, New Brit. and Hartford Public Schools.

Manchester is a good town- with high educational standards- I worked as a teacher in the school system a decade ago- it has become a bit rough around the edges-not bad, but has changed.

Try Glastonbury, and Vernon (much cheaper)- less hard then Manchester, but less $$ then Glastonbury.

Depends on what you want to spend for housing? Bigger money but a beautiful town is Glastonbury. Little furthur up is East Hampton. South Windsor is a great town with great schools. If you have kids that will be in the school system for some time. Stay away from East Hartford, Manchester and Vernon ( these are tough towns )

Towns I know personally in the area with great schools are Glastonbury, Simsbury (both towns are on the pricier side). More affordable good school districts are in West Hartford (can be expensive in some parts), Hebron, Marlborough and to a lesser extent, East Hampton.

I know ellington.Very nice town, plenty of open space. Alot of farming. Have a family member with children in the school system and they are doing well.
Nice town in the country, not far from shopping malls in either Manchester or Enfield ( 15-25 min). Real estate if I had to guess is maybe a little above average but below what you would pay in Glastonbury or South Windsor.

Be careful in West Hartford. The two high schools there are radically different. One is in the north part of town (Hall High School) and the other is in the south (Conard) near the Hartford/New Britain town lines and is much rougher. For the money it will take to own a nice home in West Hartford you can do better else where.

South Windsor has an excellent school system

a high quality of life as well- nice neighborhoods that includes single family homes, nice condo communities as well as 55 and over. Shopping in The evergreen walk is superlative- and the nearby Buckland Shops.
