Just wondering if you were looking to buy- both as a place to live, but down the road to sell- would you buy a home in Newtown. Also- although the (raveis?) stats I've seen in sales are solid- it just seems there are a lot more newtown homes for sale. And with that, many more "reduced" listing prices. A property caught our eye- we may be going to see it in the next few weeks. Thanks-m

Newtown has always been a good market...lots of people pick Newtown because the prices are 1/3 of what they are in the lower county. Your value will hold in Newtown

I think Newtown has always been that way. It is not really near major employment centers and you can get a lot for your money there. The turnover is kind of high because of this. Your call if it is worth it or not. Jay

It's a good buy. The community has been tight knit for a long time, the public schools are good, it's within decent commuting distance to Danbury and Waterbury, and you get pretty good bang for your buck on single family homes.

Newtown is a good investment.

A friend recently bought a house there for less than I would've expected for Newtown, so I think the town has some appreciating to do. I was actually surprised, they got way more house for the money than I did in Milford.

I'd say a good buy. The only area I'd say good bye is if you can see the Fairfield Hills abandonment from your window.

Since 2008, Newtown has been a buyer's market (at least until last summer). Easy to buy, harder to sell.

Yeah, the value of Newtown (and Upper Fairfield County excluding Ridgefield) has taken quite a hit following the recession. I know houses were going for $400k dropping to $250k. Crazy! Now is a really good time to buy in Newtown if you're planning on selling it later. Newtown is bound to rebound back strong (along with the upper portion of this county) and I can assure you it's actually already climbing slowly, but steadily. Over the long run, you'll get some good money, not to mention, it's a great place to live!

For commute times, if they interest you: 40 mins to Hartford, 45 mins to New Haven, 18 mins to Waterbury, 15 mins to Danbury, 30 to BPT. Of course, all that if there's no traffic involved.

I feel the need to add I'm from Newtown, so, I'm slightly biased towards my town. But, it really is quite lovely; developing well.

Hartford is more like 50 minutes without traffic, and can vary widely depending on where in Newtown - but yeah, it's pretty conveniently located.
