Hartford County:

Talcott Mountain State Park, Simsbury. Five months from now, when the foliage peaks, going there and climbing Heublein Tower is a great experience.

Penwood State Park, Bloomfield. A hidden gem right across the street from Talcott.

New Haven County:

Hammonasset State Park, Madison.

There are others elsewhere that I enjoy, but those are my favorites. I realize it's only a city park, but Elizabeth Park is probably my favorite place to be. Now that it's springtime, it's beautiful even in the rain. Spring seems to be slow this year (not to mention late), so it's nice to enjoy the scenery for longer periods.

My favorite state parks are Waramaug, Macedonia Brook, and Talcott Mountain. The Larkin bridle trail is decent too, for trail running or light trail biking.

I admit I haven't been to many of the ones that aren't in Litchfield, Hartford, or New Haven counties.

Of the state parks my favorites are Mohawk Mountain and Kent Falls. Devil's Hopyard is also pretty nice. I may not live in Litchfield County, but it has my heart. <3

Bennett's Pond in Danbury/Ridgefield is awesome! I haven't gone to Squntz Pond. Seth Low in Ridgefield is ok, but nothing special.
