As a resident of CT, I'm tired of seeing all of the non-CT vehicles constantly clogging up I-84 and I-91 on a daily basis. I've noticed more and more over the past few months of the influx of vehicles that seem to be causing traffic delays by traveling blindly in the left lane, with no regard to the traffic behind them, or the backup they are causing by forcing everyone to go around them to maintain a highway speed. Even when there isn't "delays", why should all the cars passing through our state do so for free?

I can only imagine I-95 is worse than 84 and 91 combined, but I can't speak for that highway since I hardly if ever drive it. Other states, including Massachusetts and Florida, both of which I have driven frequently, have toll booths, and the delays they cause are minimum at best for those who are going to argue "the toll booths are going to cause longer delays than what we have now".

It's been long enough, and it's way overdue. Bring back the toll booths, Connecticut!!

Yes....and Yes. Feels like just about every other car I look at is from another state. It's like the whole world is on I-95. NJ, NY, MA, VT, TX, FL, ect. ect.. even Alaska.

I played a game with someone once... lets actually count how many are from CT. I swear within a 10 minute drive we passed and got passed by more out of state plates then CT itself.

Try it.... Grab a pen and paper and check off which state the vehicle is from. You'll be shocked.

I was never in favor but lets go. bring em back

No. Seriously Connecticut is a really small state compared to Florida and other states you are talking about. Tolls will not make traffic flow better. I-95, I-91, and I-84 are the major CT highways, and tolls or no tolls they would be heavily traveled. In Florida its a much bigger state and so much more highways. The reason why I-95 is so bad is because it runs from NYC which is the whole countries largest city. There will be traffic, no question.

I-84 and I-91 go through the states capital and other major cities. I hate to disappoint you but tolls will not make traffic flow better, how else will they get through CT if people will avoid them. The only other choice is to take I-90 (Mass Turnpike) which is also a toll road.

Look at D.C for example its the same. Traffic can go all the way from D.C through Fredericksburg which is where I live. Just go at off times and you will be fine.

Like try traveling I-95 N during morning rush hour, and I-95 S during evening rush hour. On I-95 one side is always bad and the other is good. Just depends on the time.

Let me get this straight, you want to bring back tolls simply because other states have them and you personally have not experienced delays as a result?

Why do you want to bring tolls back? We already have the highest gas tax and property taxes on motor vehicles in the country. CT is already the most (or second) most taxed state in the country and is universally viewed as one of the worst places to do business in the nation.

We have plenty of revenue but very little restraint in spending. There in lies the problem.

Tolls are a terrible idea from every angle.

I dont think we should bring back tolls, but HOT lanes with E-ZPass might be something.

If CT has tolls we will be #1 in traffic instead of 6th place.

If tolls come back to CT, it's even MORE of a reason to want to leave the state. I hate tolls.

I currently live in Florida (Tampa area). Moved here from CT 6 years ago. Yes there are toll rolls here. However, I don't think they make traffic any better. Traffic here is horrible to begin with. The toll roads in my area, are out of my way so I have no use for them. However, sometimes when I go back home to see family, it's cheaper for me to fly out of Orlando, so I go there instead and unless if I go some major backroads, the only roads leading to MCO are tolls. I do not notice ANY difference between I-4 and the Bee Line Expressway, other than I am paying a toll on the Bee Line.

Collection to expand and improve the road. There has to be a drastic change to get the roads flowing freely again.
