I am relocating and found a place in Bristol, but my daughter will be attending the University of Hartford and wanted to know if the commute is bad into West Hartford? If so, how long do you think it would take are there any alternate routes etc, or is this even a good idea? Thanks in advance.

It is less than 20 miles from Bristol to University of Hartford. The commute should not be too bad since your daughter would not have to go through Hartford. She would likely just use Route 72 to I-84 and get off at Trout Brook Road in West Hartford. She would then have to go through local streets to get to UHart's campus. It would not be bad. She may hit some traffic on I-84 during rush hour but it would be for a short part of her journey. Jay

weird, I could swear I posted a response here last night?

but, the commute is not bad at all. 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

The OP also posted this question on another thread we have going. That is likely where you responded. Jay

I used to commute from Bristol to Saint Joseph College, just a few miles from U of H. The most amount of time spent is from the highway exit to the school - that's where the traffic can be the worst. I used to give myself 45 minutes to an hour to drive, depending what time of day classes were and if I would hit normal rush hour.
