Thanks for your reply, Dairygodmother. I also thought the Cash Heating Oil website looked a little suspicious, but glad to hear you had good luck with it. I will give it a try. As you mentioned, the uncertainties in Iran have caused prices of oil to increase. I didn't lock into the $3.50 deal and prices have since gone up about $0.10 or so. I am keeping an eye on prices and will do COD until a price really grabs me.

I am moving to a new home in lower Fairfield County and would like a trusted HVAC company to clean/maintain my oil tank. Any recommendations?

I can second that for Modern.

Definitely convert to gas if available, or avoid signing contracts with these oil companies. They will show up every month like clockwork from Oct-May to fill up your tank and drop that $600 bill on you with out even batting an eye. Have it done on an as need basis.

When I signed up with Santa Energy the service plan for the first year was free, that included heat and AC cleaning(we have central air). I also locked in and went on the budget plan so I pay a monthly bill that's more comfortable for us then paying $$$ each time to fill up. So you might want to shop around.

Heating oil still low. Good news for oil users. Not sure how long it will stay this low.

There's an idea, a fixed amount lock. Once the 1000 is out, do they force automatic delivery?

I'm bummed, I just converted to gas on the house I'm selling. New house has oil and won't convert until I renovate next year. I was so hoping to be done with oil!

I am not a gambler, so I thought the fixed rate plan would suit me best, but do you find the cap plans or COD is better?

What about purchasing service plans through an oil company? The company I mentioned above is offering one at $80/first year which seems like a good deal. Any thoughts?

Thank you everyone for your advice and suggestions!
If you decide to go with a full service oil dealer then get the best contract you can purchase for service. They will do a complete check up of the system and do most repairs for no additional cost. After the first year drop them and get a reliable oil service individual to do the work. Ask your new neighbors who they use. Good luck on your choice. Remember that you will have to keep track of your tank level if you decide to purchase oil on your own, Never let it go below 1/8-1/4 of a tank.
