Don't forget a trail between Farmington and East Hartford on the weekdays.

Go ahead add tolls. I don't travel that way on 95 EVER so it doesn't hurt me. If CT can make a couple bucks from the people that do GREAT. Make sure that money goes to Hartford and spread it around the State equally. Whatever this State needs to do to make money that doesn't involve raising taxes or any more "fees" I'm all for it.
Not mad, just sounds like typical NIMBY response.

The money generated will probably go to the 3 I-84 widening projects.

Likely the way it is going to work is that CTDOT will rebuild a section of highway and set up "Open Road" tolls on it once it is completed. "Open Road" tolls are just electronic readers mounted on a support structure over the highway. They identify a vehicle using transponders in the vehicle or take a photo of the license plate so a bill can be sent to the owner. It is fairly unobtrusive.

I do not think those three projects will include tolling. A lot has to happen both here in the state and nationally and those projects will likely be completed before then.

I would guess this type of tolling is going to be used on the Aetna viaduct project in Hartford when CTDOT rebuilds that section of I-84 in several years. Still Congress has to allow tolls on interstate highways first and who knows if they will ever get their act together to do something. Given their past history, that is unlikely. Then the state would have to approve that. Again that is an uphill battle. People still remember the nightmare on I-95 30 years ago that ended tolls in the first place. Jay
