Southern Bell moving North! I've recently graduated college and accepted a position with a company in Windsor, CT. Where should I be looking to live? Don't care much for the big city and bright lights. But don't want to be in the "sticks" either. Would like to have my commute under 15 minutes but would go as much as 30 minutes for the "perfect" place. My perfect rental would have a garage, and provide snow removal. Washer/Dryer hookup and a room to use as an office. No pets. Nearby grocery store and fitness center. Nice, safe area that's not too cheap or too expensive. Remember, I've just graduated.
Thanking you in advance for any advice or suggestions.
Congratulations on your graduation and welcome to Connecticut.
Windsor has some rental options, as would Enfield. Simsbury might have a few rental options, but it can get pricey in Simsbury. A lot of the towns around Windsor - Granby, East Granby, Suffield, Simsbury, etc, are more oriented towards buying a home than renting. I'd avoid Bloomfield and East Windsor.
A lot of young people who work in Windsor live in Manchester. Depending on location, you could be 20 to 30 minutes from your job. Another option would be West Hartford. There is a wide range of housing options there and a lot to do for young people.
Granby, East Granby and Suffield are smaller towns with not a lot to offer. There would be fewer rentals as well. Simsbury is more upscale and there are some rentals but not a lot. Good luck, Jay
