I'm also buying ammo here in the south before I move until I can figure out what the rules of gun ownership are in CT.
You might want to PM me about that. Better yet you might have to call me....actually, you might have to send me an encrypted burner phone before I will.

What I will say is research it before hand. Your going to have to make some pretty tough decisions in that regard. One of those decisions might even be as dramatic as to whether or not you want to get rid of some of your rightfully owned property or be a criminal in the eyes of your glorious CT leaders. Pretty sad and pathetic.

I'm a very peaceful man that shoots for sport. I don't even shoot deer, I shoot at paper targets and it's a .380 handgun, not exactly an MP5 or M16.

My wife shoots, my 2 boys have, we do it at a firing range in a controlled environment, range control and everything .

I was awarded the Army sharpshooter badge, I shoot for sport, at paper targets. That's my only intention as a gun owner.

I would recommend VT, NH, or ME for you.

If you think the south had rednecks New Hampshire has to be the most conservative northeast state on the planet.

Live free or die, I like their motivation but too far from family In Patterson New York.

During my visit to Connecticut I have 3 towns of interest so far:
1. Torrington
2. Winchester
3. Brookfield

I would like to visit Lyme Rock park for the Motorsport, I remember as a kid my mom would take us to a place called Sherwood Island? Did I say that right? It was a beach.

Somebody had mentioned a lobster roll, I'll give it a shot.

The Danbury Fair Mall was a fun place to visit, that horse carousel is cool.

I was surprised to be able to find a few homes in Brookfield for less then 250k, I checked with Trulia and what's nice about that app is that it breaks it down for ya, monthly mortgage. Insurance, tax, gives you an out the door price.

If taxes made schools better then how come we have:

1. School shootings.
2. Laid off teachers.
3. Cuts to special education programs.
4. Very few in any Votech programs.

Something doesn't add up and I would say those high tax dollars are more used to pad higher teacher salaries that are way above the national average and those salaries are only found in the northeast.

Now of course we can say that teachers should get paid more cause it's teaching, an important developmental stage of a child's life.

That would be true, however they are only teaching toward the test, the FCAT, SOL.

How many young people in high school are being taught how to balance a check book, use a cash register for an entry level high school job?
School shootings are not necessarily tied to the schools themselves. They have more to do with our mental health system than anything.

Teachers here in Connecticut being laid off tends to be tied to school enrollment. Fortunately our schools tend to have smaller class sizes so this is not an issue.

I am not aware of cuts being made to Special Ed programs here. I actually know a few towns/cities that are expanding theirs.

The State of Connecticut has an excellent Vo-Tech program with excellent schools located throughout the state. Local schools tend to shy away from vo-tech because those trully interested in going in that direction will more than likely go to the state school. Jay

I have to disagree with this and say that in this wrong atmosphere of putting every student on a college track, local schools districts merely cut their vo-tech programs to save money. This has been very sad in the middle class towns that actually had good programs.

I agree. We have to be honest and realize not every kid is equipped for college, some would be just as successful becoming master plumbers making 50 dollars an hour or becoming an entrepreneur or even transferring military experience back into the civilian sector like I was able to do.

College is a good decision to make, that I would agree with too, however to force all kids into this one size fits all program just doesn't work, it never has.

Anyone young person today with enough drive, ambition, and passion for a certain field will find away to succeed.

Wether it be a Wall Street banker or master mechanic, what drives you to succeed is loving what ever it is you do.

For me that's always been cars, I was never against going to college mind you but they just don't offer a bachelor degree in automotive technology, I had to go to a technical/vocational school.
