Through the website of SDMS (Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), I found a link to accredited programs. They list 2 in CT: St. Francis Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Here's the link... if you click on the name of the hospital you will get contact info for the ultrasound programs:

Smile Sonography online school

Have you considered and "online" sonography program? I have seen one called www.academyofultrasound.com . They offer the coursework online and a "scan lab" where you get actual scan time. The labs are conducted in a seminar-type environment with small groups so there is more individual attention to your scan training.

This is just a suggestion in case your are still looking for a school. Hope this helps.

Good Luck and God Bless!

just make sure that whatever you do is fully accredited. My husband was looking into the field and did a lot of research through the organization that the other poster listed. That organization can verify which schools/programs really are accredited. Unfortunately for him, it seemed not entirely feasible at this stage. The schools usually took about 10 people into the program and more often than not they gave preference to people already in the medical field. they also suggested that students would not be able to work, even part-time, due to the heavy coursework and the mandatory volunteer time. It didnt work for us since we have kids to support but hopefully it will work out for you! I just would be careful about any online programs when it comes to this field.

But Sanford Brown is not accredited according to the CAAHEP... what does that mean to the graduate looking for work?

Gateway Community College has an associates degree in diagnotic sonography. Yale has a one year program but you must already have an allied health degree to apply, same applies to St. Francis' echocardiography program.
