Man, not just Monroe, but this takes a toll on Trumbull, too. Considering it's walking distance to the border. I'm still in shock a town like Monroe is letting Walmart come in. World War III would start before Newtown even THINKS about letting that happen and I thought Monroe was very much like that, albeit, lil' more lenient. :/

Most Monroe residents are sickened that Walmart is coming to town. I think this will adversely affect all the towns along Rt. 25, not just Monroe.

haaa I was trying to be nice. I hate Walmart and only go there for like, three things, I know are cheaper than anywhere else.

And forget Stop and Shop...Trader Joe's is the way to go.

If I was a Monroe resident still, I would have voted a big fat no.

I have yet to find a Walmart in CT I like....

Unfortunately, Monroe residents were not given the option to vote.

The Town of Monroe, like most towns in Connecticut, have strict zoning laws. If a development is proposed that reasonably meets the zoning for the site, by law the project must be approved. The town and its residents have no choice. The zoning board cannot discriminate based on what company is coming in even if it is Walmart. I am not a Walmart shopper but there are some Walmarts that are not too bad. Rocky Hill and New Milford come to mind. Jay
