On my drive home today, I was attempting to pass the dozen or so trucks clogging up the center lane of I-84.

Got in the left lane, and of course the vehicle ahead of me is 'cruising' along at 50-55 mph, oblivious to the flow of traffic (75 or so)

Turns out that this dolt has earbuds on. You've got to be kidding me. I've seen this a LOT lately. Others were swerving around this guy, flipping him off...and he still wouldn't move over.

I ask two things of drivers--keep right except to pass, and keep your focus on the road. Is this too much to expect? I hate all this road-rage, stress inducing crap.

I wear earbuds to talk on the phone in my truck. It doesn't have Bluetooth integration and I hate those stupid Bluetooth ear pieces.

So what you're saying is that you drive oblivious to what's going on around you...

Why not get a bluetooth speaker kit? They're inexpensive ($30 on Amazon). Nothing to wear. Much safer.

Yeah, bad idea. Although is it really worse than absolutely cranking a powerful aftermarket system?

I wear ONE earbud in the Jeep, which has no stereo and no way to play the GPS through. I can barely hear it over the noise of the Jeep with the top off anyway. But I can't hear ANYTHING if the phone is in my lap or on the floor.

I've never had earbuds that have cancelled out noise. I use them all the time while riding and running too. I can only hear my music if I'm on back roads. In traffic, I hear the cars, not my music.

It's possible the driver was simply an idiot.

Right Lane=Slow Lane for people that drive under or at the speed limit.
Middle Lane/Lanes=Travel lane for people for driving the speed limit or above.
Left Lane=Passing Lane. You don't have to merge right once you pass, but should merge right when a fater car is approaching your tail.
HOV Lane=2+ Lanes. Only found on 84/91 in the Hartford area. Flow normally moves 80 in this, so drive fast.

Either or. I prefer the middle since I don't have to deal with the people who can't merge onto the highway.

How are earbuds any different than a stereo system at a high volume? People with loud stereo systems must enrage you too!

The problem I have with your post is that you are more than likely just like so many others. You say "OMG left lane is passing lane!" but then move at significantly higher than posted speed limit speeds, or you just sit in the left lane going 80+ or whatever you travel at.

The idea of a passing lane is to pass and THEN get back into the travel lane. People who typically complain about left lane hogs are the a**holes that have just GOT to travel at insane speeds. "Holy crap, there's a dude moving at only 10mph over the speed limit, doesn't he know I am late for work!"

In the instance that someone is indeed traveling AT the speed limit and sitting in the left lane, then I feel you guys. Other than that, you'll likely fall under the "a**hole speeder" category in my opinion.
