wow, that's a huge change. I grew up listening to The Lich on WCCC (and went to high school with his little sister) and remember when Howard Stern came back there for a few years before switching over to pay radio.

Stern will be on as a guest on the last show on WCCC today from noon to 5pm.

Howard Stern still talks about WCCC. WCCC was his first major gig. It is cool he will be on the last show. Shows that he has not forgotten his roots. I have followed him over to Sirius because "free" radio is so bad.

edit: If i remember correctly, Fred Norris and Howard met at WCCC. Fred is from Manchester.

A lot of history at that channel. Sad to see it go.

WCCC has been a joke ever since they sold out and became another "classic rock" station that plays the same crap over and over. Now that it's switching formats again to a Christian rock station, their listener must be very disappointed.

I'm not sure whether Christian Rock bastardizes Christianity, or Rock Music more... Probably rock music.

As long as Christian rock bothers liberals, it is still doing something right!

So is this what we'll have after 5 PM today? Ha ha!

First it was Connoisseur ruining WDRC-FM 102.9, turning them into WPLR-FM north. Now it's this "non-profit" California group taking over WCCC-FM. I'd really love to know how this kind of group can afford to snatch up a full-market signal in a major market like Hartford/New Britain/Middletown. Who's the big winner in this? Either WMRQ-FM 104.1, WHCN-FM 105.9 of WTIC-FM 96.5. Will Mike Karolyi be out of a job after 30-some years with WCCC-FM?

As for non-commercial WIHS-FM 104.9 of Middletown (the existing full-service religious station in these parts), no changes are being made. At least none that I'm aware of.

WCCC became a joke once the changed over to "classic" rock. I stopped listening immediately. I hate our choices in radio here. I use to love listening to WCCC a few years ago.

I'm not a liberal, but Christian Rock, to me, is kind of cultish and creepy.

Exactly how I feel. I fail to see what it has to do with ideology. Most people I know regard that genre of music as the bane of their existence.
