One of my colleagues recently told me about CT Higher Education trust and how she utilized that money to fund her son's college education.
Does anybody have any experience investing in Ct Higher education trust? is it useful? Should everyone consider investing in it? Any drawbacks??

It's a good investment - invest directly into the state fund - don't go through a broker at your office, unless they're directly working for TIAA-CREF (the company that manages the investments). You can also get the amount invested into the fund deducted from your state income taxes as well, up to $10,000/year.

It's similar to a 401k, but can only be withdrawn for higher education purposes.

The tax advantage is definitely an attraction.
So does that mean if one has about 10K to invest, he should invest in this 529 plan rather than in Index funds.
