I think the schools in Bethel are good too, probably rated higher than New Fairfield. How much the OP is willing to spend will influence which town they choose, though.
They are good, but I don't know about better than New Fairfield. New Fairfield High School is really nice.
Hello,
Where can we find school districts rating in CT? What school districts has good rating in CT? We are considering to move to Wallingford, Chesire, Orange or Woodbridge depending on the school districts. We have two small kids.
Thank you.
All of these school districts are very good. Woodbridge and Orange are part of the same district.
Newsweek just released its list of the top (1600, I think?) public high schools in the country. Sixteen CT high schools made the list. They are, in order of ranking:
1. CT IB Academy (E. Hartford)
2. Conrad (W. Hartford)
3. Farmington
4. Staples (Westport)
5. Ridgefield
6. Wilton
7. Weston
8. New Fairfield
9. Avon
10. Greenwich
11. Hall (W. Hartford)
12. Simsbury
13. Fitch (Groton)
14. New Canaan
15. Joel Barlow (Redding)
16. Amity (Woodbridge)
Now I'm not sure what their criteria is, as there are lots of other great schools that (surprisingly) did not make the list. But the ones that did make the list, are indeed great schools (except, I have to admit that I never heard of the school that took the top spot in CT)
Many of the schools listed I agree with but I do not think that CT IB Academy is anywhere near No.1. It performs only around the state average on the Connecticut Academic Performance Test. The top should at least perform about the average IMHO.
Also sticking out is Fitch in Groton. It performs under the state average. I never understand what criteria these lists use. Jay
Good eye for picking those two out, Jay...because both schools (and only those 2 schools) offer an "international baccalaureate" diploma (i'm pretty sure I botched the spelling on that ) -- I bet that's why they're on the list. Are they magnet-type schools?

Yay, more dumb@ss lists............
Every year in CT, it's always the same schools in the top 4.
Hand(Madison)
Staples(Westport)
Joel Barlow(Easton/Redding)
Amity(Orange/Bethany/Woodbridge)
Their positions change each year, but they're always the cream of the crop, top performers.
I don't have any criteria. I'm just stating a personal observation from a CT native that the 4 that i listed always occupy spots 1-4 each year. Others on the list, like Weston/Wilton/Avon/Farmington, are perennial top 10'ers. And some others on the list, Greenwich for one example, always rates lower than New Canaan and Darien(which isn't even on the list) .

Garbage In, Garbage Out.
I am surprised Joel Barlow can make it to top 4 consistently on any list. Any example to support your observation?
