Its hard to believe, but as of this writing the market is flooded with homes and you can find a 3br, 1.5 bath raised ranch w/2 car gar in a well settled quiet neighborhood for just under 300K. My brother lives near Northville, a really nice section in northeast New Milford. One of his neighbors has his house listed for under 290. I think its on Sterling Drive?? Anyhow 18 months ago these home's sold for 335-350. Most of the lots are @ .75 ac to 1 ac.
So actually home prices have dropped somewhat (relatively speaking here) despite the fact New Milford has had a growth spurt. I would describe NM's growth to be more commercial than residential. The new route 7 project is nearing completion and the large commercial lots that had been vacant weed lots since I can remember are developing. Years past one would have to venture to Danbury or Hartford to find certain stores. Now NM either has them or they are soon to appear.
Back to the point, the real estate market has stabilized and you once again find a home for under 350K.

You should check out towns around Harwinton. Nice small areas and you will most likely find a teaching job.
