Default Late Night Commute from NYC to Norwalk

My husband works nites in NY and since our apartment in the City has been sublet, will be traveling home 3 nights a week from Greenwich Village to our home in Norwalk. The earliest Metro North train to anywhere in our area doesn't leave till 5:30....unless we can find an alternative, this means he will be hanging out in Grand Central for over an hour before his train leaves. Any suggestions? He doesn't drive and it will be impossible for me to pick him up! Thanks!

Sounds like he'll have to hang out in GCT until the train leaves. I don't see any other alternatives for him. When I lived in CT I had to hang out in GCT on occasion until the Milk Run train headed out in the early morning. I found GCT to be perfectly safe.

Buy a paper from an early morning newspaper vendor, and catch up on the news.

Grand Central is closed between 1:30 am and 5:30AM.

I think there are a few 24 hour restaurants close to GC, if you search online you should be able to find them. He could wait there until the train station opens.

He could also try finding a livery/gypsy cab. There won't be any traffic at that time so it would be an easy drive up to Norwalk. I would suggest he try some of the Mexican run livery cabs in the Bronx or Harlem, they are usually the least expensive. Norwalk has a decent sized Mexican population so there might be a Mexican car service there as well. They will usually leave their business card at local Mexican restaurants or just ask around.
