I was up there last week and was disgusted at the amount of grungy motels there are lining that strip. There must be a lot of hooking going on. LOL

Good day every on,
Im being moved to Bridgeport, Im only there for 8/9 months from mid November onwards.
No kids and have a car [need to buy one]
So I need a nice one/two room app.
Nice area, pubs/clubs and good restaurants, [Im not US but have been here on and off for 20 years]

So where is a place i should look at.

Cheers all Pete

I would recommend either the North End staying north of North Avenue (Route 1) and west of Main Street or Black Rock west of Ellsworth Street. These are nice safe areas and would be close to most of what you are looking for. Jay

Wow! Overpriced? We sold our beautiful home in Hamden for $229,000 in 2005. We moved into a home that my parents had bought as an investment, here in California, for $650,000. Not as nice at all.

I love Connecticut, and we're moving back as soon as all the kids are done with college.

I decided to stay away from the major cities and picked anything lousy under 50k people, or close enough. A lot of those bigger or close aren't pretty anyway.

Worst: Derby, Ansonia, East Haven, Plainfield, Windham (Willimantic)

What's so bad about East Haven?

There's just a strange vibe to it. All the negative news in the press don't help its case either.

It's actually not that bad of a town - there are some sketchy parts but it could be worse. I don't think Ansonia is that bad either. Both are much better than Meriden or Waterbury.
