My sympathies, I make a similar commute from Westchester to Northeast Fairfield County. Whenever I see 1.5-hour+ back-ups on both the Merritt and I84 I have to take a backwoods route from Katonah, to Ridgefield, to Redding, to Route 25. I call it the Redding Rollercoaster...I take my life into my own hands every time I drive that route...

But from the sound of it, it beats sitting in traffic on the 84...

OMG. Get ready..... to hear BUST!

This drop is not because of the calendar (climo) its because of the storm track shift and a longer transition to snow from rain.

School called in Manchester, not in Vernon. Looks like snow accumulation's east and south of I 84 will be light (2-4") Heavier snow amounts northwest of Hartford.

Still a big snowstorm if your travelling, heaviest snow axis shifted well west... so be safe out there.

Glad to hear that. Raining all the way down to work this morning and 40 degrees so I am hoping it will keep the roads wet and not snow covered.......at least until I can leave work. Hoping it stays mostly rain until at least 4 or 5:00.

NWS is suggesting rain may stay mixed south of 287/the Merritt almost the whole time through, they only seem to be saying all snow for a little bit after dark. My gut feeling is in those areas it will not stick to the roads well....nonetheless, I'm glad I'm off and don't have to drive to Danbury today.

Like I said, climatology suggests it's tough to get a good sticking snow near the coast this early out (then again, tell that to them on 10/29/11 and 11/7/12......).

Keep the OBS coming. It's below freezing couple thousand feet up... matter of time it starts lowering and snowing or mix.
