Our family members are working in three places Stratford, Farmington and east Hartford in Ct. Currently we are living in Farmington. The person who is travelling is taking 1 hour 15 minutes (49 miles) one way. So we are planning to move to a location which is center to all the three locations. No school studying kids are there. Any town is fine if it is safe. Please suggest. And also if we continue stay in Farmington, do you know any transportation either bus/train/any other source to commute to Stratford from Farmington. What are our best possibilities. Thank you in advance for the suggestions.

I doubt you're going to be able to find any public transportation that's easy to manage for any of the three locations. I would suggest that you look at the area between Southington and Waterbury, along I84. If you are close to the highway, it will be a fairly easy commute for all of you, although the person who is going to East Hartford will still have to drive through Hartford.

If you want to avoid I-84 through downtown Hartford/Waterbury in two of your commutes, Wallingford or North Haven are options. Those town are in the 15/I-91 corridor:

Take 15 southbound to commute to Stratford

Take I-91 northbound to East Hartford

Take I-91 northbound to 9 (around exit 22) to Farmington

Can't comment on traffic, but I'd imagine I-91 into Hartford is heavy, and so is 15 into Bridgeport.

Yes, Wallingford. Someone I know works in Stratford and her husband works in Bristol; they live in Wallingford.

Wallingford is probably right, but it depends on where in Stratford the person is going. If it's Sikorsky Aircraft, great, it's right off the parkway. If the job is off of 95 though, that can take awhile to reach coming from the parkway, depending upon exactly where and at what time of the day.

Wallingford/Woodbridge/North Haven would work.

I agree that Wallingford would be a good place to look for a place. Since schools are not an issue you might also consider Meriden. But you must be careful about location in Meriden.

As to public transportation to Stratford the OP might consider looking into carpools. CTDOT has a program to connect people with carpools or ride shares. Check their website or Google it. Jay
