Actually you do not pay estate taxes in Connecticut unless your estate is valued at over $2 million. Most people with that kind of money are smart enough to shelter it through trusts or multiple names on account and real estate. Only those with really big assets end up paying. Jay

This is minimal. I would rather pay an extra $7/week on my grocery bill ($100 x 7% tax) for a total of $364/yr over paying $5000/yr for property tax.

I know it's 2 million -- I actually think it was brought down from 3.5 million. The federal government I believe imposes taxes around 5.5 million (it keeps going up, not sure exactly where it is now). Just pointing out that if you're really wealthy, you probably do want to die someplace else.

Not everyone gets raises NEP, and you still have to add that to the MDC service charge, and the CL&P increase. Plus Comcast has been going up every year for quite a few years now and let's not even discuss food and medical expenses.

Screw that - let's do it. With the "affordable haha" act, many of us are paying $100-$200 MORE PER MONTH for insurance which is no better, and sometimes worse that what we had. And Malloy had something to do with that as well. He allowed 2013 plans to continue into 2014 and then forced us to have to adopt the new ones.

So ya, every littl bit counts, even if it's "only" .2%

You do live in a glass bubble, don't you?

The older I get the harder the winters are on me. I have a cousin in San Antonio who moved there 3 years ago and loves it. TONS of building going on: roads, freeways, schools, businesses, you name it.

So what? Rising costs and stagnant wages is not something that's exclusive to CT. This happens all over the nation, even in low cost areas. That's just the way of the world. I don't know of any state in which groceries, medical or other expenses are decreasing. Please.

San Antonio is like 70% Latino. As a European American, I would not feel assimilated in such a place.

We have house bought and paid for.We are in later years and would like to be with our families.
Ct has no exemptions or any kind of relief for seniors,on income they include SS as income which excludes us from this exemption.
We are seriously considering on selling.Taxes on home etc go only one way up.
We as said before have $72,000 in exemptions with no taxes, this is only reason we can keep Ct home afloat.

I lived in San Antonio for several years, and I felt assimilated enough to be fully comfortable there. It's an interesting and vibrant city. Fiesta week is fun. I'm too lazy to look, but I think the 70% is an exaggeration.
