I am looking for recommendations on where to buy some nice men's suits. I live in Fairfield.

I used to buy my suits in the men's department at Filene's at the Trumbull Mall. Since Macy's took it over, there never seem to be any salespeople in the men's department. I tried Lord & Taylor and had e same problem. There was a clerk there to ring people up but nobody to measure me, show me the suits in my size, etc.

The kat couple of times, I bought my suits at Joseph A. Bank in Fairfield. Eir suits are of middling quality, alterations are shoddy, etc. So I was hoping for a little higher quality.

I thought of Mitchell's of Westport but their prices seem to be insane, as one would expect in Westport.

Does anybody have any suggestions? These suits are for daily wear, for me to wear to work every day.

Service is minimal, and the atmosphere kind of bleak, but you absolutely can't beat Burlington(Stratford) for price and selection.

Thanks man. Do you wear suits regularly? What do you typically pay for a suit?

Don't wear them regularly. I know the last time a few months ago, i wasted quite a few hours at the Trumbull Mall looking for one. I went to JCP, Macy's, L&T, Men's Warehouse, and Express Suits. IIRC, the most expensive suits at Burlington were less than the least expensive suits available at the above stores.

Perhaps the Stamford or Orange locations might carry additional(higher quality) suits?

What issue did you have with those Trumbull Mall stores? Poor service? Poor selection? Price?

Go with old faithful, brooks brothers. If you seek badgering, Westport will do. Otherwise Danbury or Stamford Mall for a more laid back culture until you are ready to pull the trigger.

My husband is obviously not a regular suit wearer, but he does need one good one for the occasional funeral/wedding. We went to BB at Danbury Mall about a year ago, and while he probably would say he hated the whole ordeal in general, they did do a very good job with the fitting and tailoring, and they also did recognize his discomfort with the whole process and were very low-key/respectful in return. He was as happy as he could be -- I was definitely more pleased. Easy experience, no over the top selling or pushing him.

All of the above. Quality didn't seem too great either. I don't shop for suits frequently, but Syms was far and away the best place i remember. It's too bad their gone.
