Default East Hampton,CT - any thoughts?

Hi!
Does anyone have any thoughts on E.Hampton? School systems, Lake Pocotopaug, town center, conveniences like stores/supermarkets/closest hospital, etc.?

Also - how long does it "actually"take in the morning (with traffic) to get to Rt.2 or Rt.9 from the Barton Hill Rd? Barton Hill Road is right in between Rt. 66 & Rt.196 (Main Street).

Thanks everyone

I know a couple of people that live in East Hampton and they like it. I know a couple that use to live there and they did not like it. The schools in East Hampton are good performing above the state averages in the Connecticut Mastery Test and the Connecticut Academic Achievement Test. That said, I find that the class sizes to be higher than I would recommend (over 20 students per class). Also, East Hampton High School is pretty small (around 600 students) so the level of electives offered may be limited. There is one large supermarket in East Hampton (Shaw's). It is new and offers most of the basic needs, but be aware there are not a lot of other shopping options in town so you will have to travel to shop at stores like Walmart or Target. The closest hospital would be Middlesex Memorial in Middletown about 12 miles from East Hampton.

It is about 5 miles from Barton Hill Road to Route 22 in Marlborough and about 9 miles to Route 9 in Middletown. Getting to Route 2 is not a problem but getting onto Route 9 from the Arragoni Bridge can be difficult. Figure you can get to Route 2 in 5 to 10 minutes, while to Route 9 in about 20 minutes with no traffic. With traffic Route 9 would be more than a half hour away. Hope this helps. Jay
