Any recommendations for providers in Southington? How is Cox? Dare we even consider Frontier? We want a landline, fast internet, and basic cable (have promised son ESPN.) Thanks in advance!

We have Cox and like the service. We negotiated a better deal with them by threatening to go with Frontier. They were going to give us a lower rate for one year on a two year contract but we got them to just give us a lower rate for one year only. We are finding that the threat of changing makes them negotiate better. Jay

I live in Southington and have DirecTV and Frontier Internet (DSL). At the time it was wicked cheap so that's what I went with. I have not heard good things about Cox.

Looks like Frontier or Cox are the only two games in town. With all the trouble that Frontier is having, it might worthwhile to go with Cox.

i have Cox in Wfield and i like it. didn't about 10 yrs ago in Meriden when last i had them but now it's different. the internet speeds are really fast, and the phone works fine even though every now and then a call will come in where my number shows up on the caller id. huh? it's like i'm calling myself. maybe next time i'll answer it and see who's there.
anyway, as far as TV, i have a decent amount of channels and a Contour DVR for about $180/mo. this is actually a lot cheaper than it normally would be because of all the promo discounts i got when i signed up. and the promos didn't stop there. i had to add 2 $10 packages on top of my 200 channel service to get that decent amount of channels but the second one (sports and info) i got at a special promo of $3.99/mo for a year.
if you like the Hallmark channel, Cox offers both (HC, HM&M). something that last i knew weren't offered by UVerse/Frontier.
if you want a DVR i suggest the Contour box. it will allow up to 6 (really 5) recordings at the same time which is much better than the 2 (really 1) that the regular box gives you.

No Cox in Wallingford but we just switched to xfinity X1. Worlds better than frontier but I do miss my AT&T UVerse. However when they sold to frontier it was all downhill for six months and I got fed up with the service problems and Internet. Much happier again with X1.

Yeah - Frontier hasn't been kind to us. The fastest speed they offer in my area is 18MBps and I seem to lose service nearly every day, even if it's only for a few seconds most of the time. This did NOT happen every when we had AT&T UVerse - it was like a switch was flipped and now the internet sucks.

However, for internet, they're like less than half the price of Metrocast, which is my other option in East Lyme. I could pay for Dish Network internet, but they limit your data, and both my wife and I suck up a lot of data if and when we work from home. (Dish's DVR is awesome, though, with 2,000 hours!)

It almost makes me want to move a few miles up the road to Old Lyme just so I can have Comcast.
