I'm sure we've all heard about the potential snowstorm tomorrow night into Monday morning. I'm probably going to take the train rather than drive. However, I'm concerned about the trains stopping due to snow. Is this a legitimate concern?

as a everyday metronorth commuter, your concern is legit but i wouldn't worry too much about it. it may take a bit longer to get to your destination, but often times the trains are more crowded because of everyone avoiding the roads. in the year and a half (may not be the best indicator since last year was so warm) i've never had the trains stop working.
before you leave in the morning, check out MTA Home Page. if there is a service advisory for metronorth you will see it at the TOP of the page (icons for the respective area of the system). if you don't see anything then there likely is not significant delays. |

So much for a snowstorm. Pretty anticlimatic, wasn't it? It took me 30 minutes from Stratford to Wilton... and I was driving slower than usual!

Snow was heavy and wet in northern CT- about 4-5"tops- no big deal really-looks about over. Storm was over hyped and is slushy wet and messy- melting easily.

Inland got more snow than the shore. A lot of it didn't stick on the shore because of temps in the high 30's most of the night.
Around Windham they received about 6-7'', probably closer to 8-9'' in the Northwest Hills. |
