Hi there. Do you watch news12?

I could very well be over exaggerating however, when you hear dozens of shots are being fired between rival gangs on spruce st & myano lane, when you read that young ladies are being raped on garden st (2 blocks away from yale/towne), or you hear about the murder on mcdonalds ( mentally disabled? Police reports/witnesses say that a gang of 3-5 kids beat and stabbed a man to death over spilled coffee), or the murder on ludlow st, or the shootings in downtown stamford right in front of mcfaddens late last year, you start to worry.

I have been a resident of CT for 28 of my 31 years (3 years lived in Europe) and these last 2 years my opinion of Stamford has greatly changed. Mostly due to concerns of safety of my young family who might one day decide to walk downtown. There are hundreds of underprivileged children and teenagers who are resorting to desperate tactics in order to get a phone or some pocket change that they think will turn their night into a fun one.

While it is true that there are children committing crimes in downtown, this is not a concern - in fact, Stamford is much safer than when that woman was murdered in the Bloomingdale's parking garage in the early 1990s.
