The fact that there are no leaves yet and still snow on the ground in the middle of April is why I'll never move further north voluntarily.

YUP! I was having that discussion with a meteorologist. Has there been snow piles and snow this far south with full leaves on the trees in Spring? That would imply May so no, there hasn't.

I hate to repeat it but, usually it's special to see snow "piles" anywhere in March! May would be just another historic aspect of whats been happening.

Eh...most years, there is always still a few snow piles here and there and they don't really melt until around the 3rd week of April.

There's still some piles of snow next to DOT HQ on Berlin Trpke. A few days ago I also saw some ice in shady areas on i-84 in CT west of Waterbury. I also saw some ice on portions of i-84 on the NY state side.

Smile none in East Haven now

Our condo had a huge pile left by the plow contractor at the end of our lot. It was about 10 feet high at its peak. By this Sunday, April 12, there was one tiny piece, about the size of a 2-liter soda bottle left. By day's end, that was gone. I did see a snow pile in Branford last week, in a commercial parking lot.

Those piles by DOT are still there? I haven't been by that way in a while but they are usually the last to go in the area. That building is CTDOT's Training Center and they pile snow from the main parking lot there in huge piles. I remember them going in with backhoes and knocking the pies down in spring because they weren't melting fast enough. Jay

When I used to work on the Berlin Turnpike, one year I noticed that the snow pile near the CTDOT didn't melt until around mid June.

The only spot I see left is at the Oakdale alongside the parking lot but even that pile is down to a tiny mound.
