Red face Moving to connecticut

We are looking to relocate to connecticut. We would like no more than an hour commute on the train. We would also need to have parking at the train station. We know it will be expensive, but we would like to be in a good school district.

An hour commute or less from Connecticut to NYC by the metro north train.

The furthest east that puts you is Fairfield, although remember an hour commute on the train will only bring you to Grand Central. You have to factor in additional commuting time to the actual place of work in the city on top of that. Many train stations along the Metro North line have overcrowding problems when it comes to parking with wait lists to get a spot.

There are many affluent towns in your commuting distance, which generally equals good schools. Greenwich, Darien, Westport, Fairfield, Redding, Easton, New Canaan, et al all have solid school systems.

Mels is correct. Some towns will merely be expensive for housing like Fairfield- others will be ultra expensive like Darien.

I have no idea where you are locating from.. so comparing costs cannot be easy to ascertain.

We are coming from Long Island. Housing in a town with a very good school district can also be very expensive.

Have you considered Ridgefield? It is about 70 minutes by train via the Harlem Rail Line in NY and there is a commuter parking lot with a shuttle to the train station. It has one of the top schools in the state in it's class and you can get more house for the $, compared to Greenwich, Westport and Darien.

You really need to determine your price range first because that will determine your choices for commuting to NYC.

If you would like to discuss further, you can email me or dm me.
