And lets put it another way — lets repeal and cancel the National Highway Fund, let’s also repeal the gas tax which funds it, and then let’s have NO federal funds funding any roads on CT, then let’s CT toll the **** out of people. Lets see what happens to roads in CT.

That's completely asinine, but if we tried that all the toll roads would be empty and all the local roads would be jam packed with traffic 24/7.

As soon as we get the jet packs we can all live in your Libertarian Nirvana.

High speed rail commuter rail through Fairfield County is unrealistic fixing 95 and Merrit, ferry service, expand airport make more sense. CT voters will vote on transportation lockbox this fall.

No airports in southern CT will ever be expanded so forget about it. Plus expanded airports do not help commuters.

Ferry service from Stamford, Norwalk, Greenwich to Manhattan / Brooklyn could make sense if it was cheap enough. For it to be cheap enough though it would most likley need to be Govt subsidized.

Some years ago a company had a plan to operate ferries from Stamford to Manhattan, but to my knowledge it never got off the ground.

I wouldn't mind privatized or partially privatized highways in the State

Also wouldn't mind expanding the Fast Track from Hartford to Waterbury to New Haven to Bridgeport to Norwalk to Danbury on a private road with a bike lane be sweet ha. That will never happen and rather have more open space than land being used for transportation or commercial use.

You do realize that "privatized" highways means tolls and expensive ones at that. No private company is going to take over a highway unless they are certain they will make money on it. While tolls being proposed by the State are around $0.10 per mile, a private road would likely be higher. Not sure I would want that since it is not like there is any competing highways to use instead. Jay

To get off the highway topic for a minute, anyone ride the CT rail yet since it's open or know how it's been doing?? I believe this past weekend or Monday was the first day of operation.
