Not sure what this is supposed to tell us -- that state identifies its tax subjects with great accuracy?

Concerns were raised about the technology and people slipping through. This shows that electronic tolls work pretty well. That is all. Jay

Yes, of course. Toll tech has been improving substantially since the 90s. As has Tax Return technology.

Four years for bridge repairs in CT meanwhile in UK it 15 hours. Why Connecticut doesn'tget highway and road projects done this fast. In Sweden they widen highway one extra lane for 80 miles it was done in 3 months two years ago but if state does this for 95 it take will take up to 25 years.

Bridge demolition and highway repair completed in fifteen hours in the UK

1- Because infrastructure building costs have skyrocketed. 24 hr shifts mean that overtime and double-time to union workers gets to be very expensive. There are tradesmen that make over $200k yr in NYC for example. Some Crane operators pull over $ 500k. And they're not enough of them with a highrise license. So they're bringing some in from retirement, at $ 50-100k sign-in bonus.

Crain's had an article last week -- NYC subway construction is the most expensive in the world, by a long shot.

2- CT has been underfunding infrastructure costs, and it continues to do so. CT just can't afford to pay these high costs right now.

That's why things are slow...

...because it's easier to fund a dozen studies, and keep political cronies' pockets rich for a few years, before doing anything!

Studies? Don't give them too much credit. If they "studied" the project they would have realized it takes them a decade to do what for others takes months. CT is such a crap show because they don't have the money to do it right and they don't have the intelligence (ironic much?) to see even 1 move ahead, let alone 5. I doubt all the regulation and political BS needed to do anything in this sinkhole is helpig either. We are our own worst enemy.

No, Connecticut does actually do this type of construction. The state just replaced a major bridge on Route 8 in Bridgeport in basically a few days. They also did a couple of bridges on I-84 in Southington over a weekend. And there have been several other bridges around the state. The problem with this type of construction is the cost. It is not cheap and with limited budgets the state is hard pressed to justify the costs.

As for all those studies, they are a requirement for federal funding. The Feds want to be certain that projects are well thought out before funding them. Kind of makes sense. Jay
