So in 20-30 years New Haven becomes a NYC suburb is worth turning FFC in the Cross Bronx Expressway?

Those "NIMBY pricks" of FFC have been subsidizing the increase in taxes caused by declining revenue in other parts of the state for years.

We have to keep in mind the reason Fairfield County is so desirable in the first place. It is not just that it is located an hour from midtown Manhattan. The towns along the Metro North New Haven corridor are stunningly beautiful and affluent. They are well thought out and have a quiet appeal that you can not find in other parts of metro New York. Wall Street executives aren't commuting from Greenwich for no good reason so we need to be careful what is happening otherwise Connecticut will become another New Jersey or Long Island. Jay

Just my observation on current state of trains for CT, NJ and Long Island. Right now the Long Island line is probably worst among three because of all kinds of troubles, crowdedness, summer of hell at Penn Station. CT metro north beat NJ slightly due to higher reliability and state of art new trains, Grand Central verses Penn St. In fact, I can tell metro north to most of NY stations (white plain, Croton Harmons) are still on old trains with no electric charging outlet. Only the CT line including New Rochelle are on new train cars.

CT is always perceived as better place for living with better train infrastructure. CT needs to continue to invest and maintain the lead in New York metro area to make the Metro North line from NYC to New Haven as the core of economic engine attracting more young professionals and high tech companies in even more and more high tech world. I think with NYC combined with strength of Connecticut (such as Yale), better infrastructure is huge plus win win situation for every CT resident in both fairfield county and New Haven counties. Better Fairfield and New Haven area economy can also make opportunities for other CT residents as well because they can easily move to these 2 counties if jobs are offered for that.

Connecticut is a good alternative to escape NYC, NJ, Long Island, Upstate NY but still close to NYC

Interesting article on what states are raising their gas taxes. As noted, Connecticut has not raised ours in years and actually reduced them a number of years back. Still there is going to be a big shortfall coming soon in our Highway Trust Fund so the legislature needs to address it soon. I believe that tolls should be part of it if they are tied to a major improvement project that adds capacity to the road. Jay

Typically, real estate closer to the water is more valuable. So putting a drive-thru corridor across the shore is very idiotic. Instead area should have parks, restaurants, cafes and other attractive options that increase the QOL of CT. Remember if CT no longer offers the QOL what else has to sell? Being a drive-thru lane?

If commuting from FFC becomes too much of a hassle then there is little growth incentive. If the fine people of FFC want to reject any change and new residents then they should prepare for higher taxes.

Not possible. Not enough poor people (excluding Bridgeport) in FFC to make it the Cross Bronx.
