Default Commuting from Stamford

I am currently interested in purchasing a home in stamford and am interested in learning more about commuting to NYC. I am currently working downtown, NY. I know the trains is about 45 minutes to grand central. I am looking at a house 2 miles from the stamford train station and was wondering how the parking is at the train station. How much a permit costs? Is it busy in the morning? Does it take a long time to get through the station.? any commuters perspective would be great.
