borat s is on a distinguished road
Default Newtown & Brookfield

I am looking for homes in these areas as well as Danbury and it seems that you get a little more for your money in this towns especially newtown. What gives? Is their something I should know about these towns before i even consider them? Looking in the 400,000 range. I am used to having stores supermarkets near me(within 5-10 minutes) and I'm looking for an area with decent property(an acre or so) but also with some culture. Thanks in advance for your response.

There is nothing wrong with either town. The reason they are a little bit more affordable than towns closer to the coastline is that you have to drive a little further to get to the city. Brookfield has a little more commerical devolpment than Newtown, but all of it is contained on Federal road (US 7) and a few small sotres on CT 25. Newtown is a little bit more country/rural, but has gotten more high end residental devolpment over the last 5 years by devolpers such as Toll Brothers. There also in not as wide selection of stores in Newtown, but there are stores in Main Street near the Flagpole. Danbury does have a lot of stores and corporate offices, but that keeps the taxes in Danbury for a $400,000 home about $600 dollers cheaper a year than Brookfield and $3000 less than Newtown. Danbury does have little more more urban areas near it's active downtown, but the general rule is the further away from downtown, the homes and yards become larger.

Alltowns offer a good amount of recreational facilties. Brookfield has some of Candlewood Lake, a large manmade lake in the region, and Newtown has more preserved open spae than Brookfield, thoug Brookfield does have a good amount too. Danbury also has facilites on Candlewood Lake, another lake on the westside of town (Lake Kenosia), an 800 acre preserve 5 minutes south of City Hall, 2 state parks, a top 50 public golf course as well has numberous ballfields scattered throught town. The schools are very good for all three towns, though Danbury High School has the second largest amount of students in the state it offers programs that the other schools don't offer.

I am an real estate agent in the area and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
