I know this is a strange question, but we are considering moving to CT and our kids will need orthodontic work. I am wondering what an approximate price for basic 2 year braces is for orthodontists in the Tolland County area. Where I live now it is about $4500. Any idea???

I have no idea what the costs would be- I do know dental work here can be very expensive. A crown without root canal will cost nearly $1000.
Unless one of the forum members can provide information- it might be best to research this online- and contact A Professional locally who might be able to give you ball park figure. Good luck. |

Sadly orthodontics work can be quite expensive here as well. I was a patient of Risinger Orthodontics in Glastonbury, CT (on Main Street near McDonalds, Friendly's and Glas).
This is a very professional father and son practice that has been around for years. They have a wonderful staff, great service and are great with kids. - but will say don't expect anything cheap here in this area. Their website is... Are you looking to find how much it costs after insurance or how much it is altogether? From what I know, dental insurance will cover each member for up to $2,000 per lifetime (as long as you stay with same insurer). The charges will depend on what you really want done. My son had spacers put in while in WH. That used up the $2000 right there. We came down to Charlotte and he had been on retainers for a year...only cost $125 for the retainer. In another year, he will need the braces unless the retainers correct the overbite...don't know yet what that would be. So I guess, my simple answer is it depends on what needs to get done. Also, our ortho allowed payment arrangements so whatever out of pocket we would have had, we can spread out in more manageable amounts.

None of our health insurance companies have ever covered orthodontia. We also had to pay the full $2250.00 for our son to have his wisdom teeth removed last year, too. Another one of the joys of being self-employed, I suppose.

List Price: Roughly $2,000 per phase, or $4,000 for complete 4+ year program.
(Based on the two ortho's we've seen for the last 2 years) |

Woodie,
Are those orthodontists near the Mansfield area, by chance? |
