West Hartford/Glastonbury are not upperclass!
I previously posted a thread on how to fix Hartford. I agree with most people's responses. Hartford does have much to offer. My point is that the Hartford area needs to focus on Hartford the city not suburbs like West Hartford and Glastonbury. Some argued that West Hartford and Glastonbury are creating a divide....rich get richer. I must say as someone who has split time in Hartford and Boston, the people living in West Hartford and Glastonbury are not upperclass. I can buy a nice home in either of these communities for $500k. However $500k would by be a shack in a 40 mile radius to Boston.
People in West Hartford and Glastonbury need to realize with out a center city (i.e. Hartford), their property values will grow smaller and smaller. Where are the jobs??

Unless New York swallows the region up with a highspeed rail connection to Hartford!

I think NYC has enough tunnel and bridge folks coming from Fairfield County. Hartford needs to create it's own economy. If it wasn't for Insurance Companies, what would Hartford area have?

Nothing. That's why NY could help.

People should not have to travel 100 miles to find work. Hartford should be offering more to attract businesses. Look at Ireland..it's economy is booming. If hartford offered a tax free zone for businesses it would only help the area.

Let's see Jeff lives in Fairfield Co... part of affluent suburban New York... I'm betting he makes more than enough money to afford the Boston suburbs. How would you know what his salary is anyway? You're just an moderator cut-personal attacks Well people, I think we know what people from Boston are really like now!

People from Boston are the greatest. I am jsut confused by some people in Connecticut. Do they have a sense of belonging. They act like NYC is theres, but they don't live in NY? At least those of us in Eastern MA have a sense of belonging!
