Yes As an Average of all of them but not all El Ninos are the same. 1957-58 was a similar ElNino as this yr and December was warm but bottom fell out for Jan & Feb and the whole winter ended up below normal as a whole.

All depends where the polar jet dives.. ElNino has 2 active jets. That spells more snow IF timing is right with the Polar Jet and the storms up the coast

Agree Stylo. My understanding is strong El Niño = wicked weather for southwestern US, but very mild for Northeast. Which is truly my hope after what felt like an almost 6 month winter last year -- 2014/2015.

Thank god I'm not the only one! 2013/14 lasted long as well. I'm already depressed with the weather turning, that's how badly worn I am from the last two.

2009-10 was also an El Nino yr. Heres how the winter ended up. We were warm. I remember that winter as the "south of us" winter. Phillys snowiest winter came that year with 75". Snowstorms kept missing CT to the south. All the cold was too.

Also.. el nino is going to start weakening in a couple weeks so there might be another main driver in the pattern come wintertime.

Don't jinx it. It'll be our luck that we'll get snow in October.

You are right! We definitely had back to back bad winters. Though I don't remember all the details of 2013/2014 -- we most certainly had January/February ice dams both years!! We will be putting up wiring in our gutters this year just in case, for sure though. Can you say twice bitten, five times shy!? Lol. I just remember last year (2014/2015) we had a "white" Thanksgiving AND a "white" Easter!!

I can't remeber all the details either without looking at some of my notes. Pretty sure my snows went on early and I know for sure that the forest was deep in ice mid-Marçh 2014. I don't think I got a full mountian bike ride in until that April. I remeber thinking my deck would still have snow in April. It didn't, but we had that much snow that's what it looked like.

Was that the winter of the February blizard or was that 2013?

A good winter for me is snows on after Christmas and off early March - at the most!

Edit - I have a pic of deep snow in the woods April 11 2015
Also snow on my car April 16 2014. Granted it didn't stay, but that was just wrong. I had already put my summer tires on twice that year.

Lol. Im the same way. After summer Im like what happened 2 winters ago? Lol. Have to look at my notes. We had back to back cold winters thats what remember. I think 2013-14 was below normal all 3 months.

yeah, that Feb blizzard was 2013 which rivaled the 78 blizzard with the buried cars on highway pics

Oh, I think Nov 2013 we had the biggest snowfall for November. Or was that 2012? Lol

Anyway.. if you guys are interested in El Nino discussions, theres a nice thread. The Nino hype is fading.

Will El Nino strengthen or fade in the summer and fall of 2015?

Thanks Cam. I will check this thread out. I know you love winter weather, but I'm seriously hoping/praying for a season that ends by at least early-March
