As I posted in previous post's, my wife and I are returning to the East Lyme Connecticut in the near future. I have a background in working with people with physical and mental challenges as direct support staff and went through a certification online program at UNH. I have worked in group homes, residential programs as well as adult daycare programs mainly with brain injury related injuries. My main question is this. How is the area as far as being able to find employment in this field ? The reason I ask is that we may have to relocate before we actually have jobs. We may have to get set up as residents of the state of Ct to make it easier to find employment.... which is a challenge being here in NH. Any information would be great as far as opportunities and actual employers who may be hiring. We are checking online sites and places like indeed & monster. Last point is we already have a place to live in Waterford when we are ready so housing is not a problem. My wife who is currently working in manufacturing here in NH would like to work in home healthcare and has a background in that area as well. Thank You.

Natchaug Hospital has four to five mental health worker slots open in Old Saybrook and Norwich area's. Not sure if per diem or full time. There is CHR, Ädelbrook, Sunrise Group, Stonington Institute, and Sound Community Service.

There is also the VNA of Southeastern CT. There is Visting Angels Living Assistance service. Few rehabs down that way and Athena owns a place in Waterford Bayview think it is called.

Not sure how much hiring Lawrence and Memorial is going to be doing with their merger with Yale.

As far as state there is a few group homes over that way. It's one of the area's the state has not shut service down in regards to mental health service.

Thank You so much for the information RunD1987. There is a few on your list that I did not know about. Trying to relocate from NH without jobs is daunting. We would love to secure employment before we move but it seems impossible.
