I thought a lighter topic might be nice for a change. Check out some of the new foods coming to this year's Big E:

Big E shows off its unusual menu on Tuesday - WFSB 3 Connecticut

What are some of everyone's favorite foods and/or things to see/do at the Big E? Or do you just avoid it entirely?

Can't wait, me and my wife go every year. Usually on a weekday to avoid the huge crowds but it's always fun to take a day and enjoy a Sammy A and some great food.

I think the deal is 6 bucks after 6 PM on a weeknight which is perfect. I don't need more than a few hours there to eat and walk around, plus you avoid the heat and crowds. I will usually go through all the state houses first and then walk around the rest of the Big E.

The best thing I had last year was fried dough with maple butter and bacon.

Went last year for the first time thought I have a heart attack how crowded it was; find out went on the busiest day on record last year ha. Thought it was good if I go again like to explore the food more, found layout bit confusing. The vendors were okay don't remember much. I really can't really recall anything outside of food and the State capital buildings, which were really interesting.

If you really want to experience everything, take a Monday or Tuesday off and head up for the day. Get there late morning and have a good lunch, walk around and snack and you get to see it all. I went once on a Saturday and never again.

I always go on a Tues. or Wed. Used to take the day off work before I retired. I figure Fri., Sat., and Sun. too crowded. Best day I ever had was a cloudy day when rain was predicted. Very small attendance that day and only 10 minutes of light rain (I ducked into the circus). I stayed till closing time, since usually traffic leaving is pretty heavy. Love the State Buildings - usually grab something to eat and watch the evening parade. Always a good time.

The Big E is good, growing up in CT, I loved going there every year. but now that I am living in New Hampshire its too far of a drive to deal with that mob of a crowd.

I wish it was more centrally located for New England's biggest Fair. Most people in New Hampshire, Maine and Boston don't even know what it is.
