GE is leaving because they don't want to pay CT corporate taxes which they have to pay on top of 35%.

Again what corporate welfare are you talking about? How about we eliminate welfare, we let people opt out of Social Security and obamacare. That will cut the 80% of federal spending you don't have the guts to touch.

Lets be honest, Liberals are gutless liars. They don't want to cut they want to call Bush a war criminal and blame everything on racism.

We have 19 Trillion of debt, don't be a gutless coward. Cut federal spending by 50%. That includes your cherished redistribution programs.
GE has not announced that they are leaving. Stop spreading rumors and lies already. Jay

Unfortunatly, if you look at the threads EUPL has started, they are predominately about trying to chase the next place that has glamour.

Classic case of it being the environment he is in that is the problem, not him.

Anyone from up north regret their move to FL

Any Realtors relocate to SD?

CT TO LA (Realtor)

Thinking of Moving to Chicago-Realtor Salary

have to suffer here for another year or two otherwise I would be out of here in a jiffy. For someone under 30 this state is pure boredom x 10

The problem is this state is just to small, you run into the same people, you go to the same places, how many times can you go to WHC and still enjoy it? Horrible weather, expensive, state is going broke, good taxpayers are moving south, Downtown lacks things to do. You guys can mock me all you want but I can tell you that speaking with many of my peers no one has long terms plans of staying in this state, they have great jobs, great income flow yet they would rather take a pay cut and live somewhere more exciting, that's pretty much what it comes down to. I went to my 10 year high school reunion a few months back, more than 50% of my high school peers moved out. They all usually concentrate in the same areas, FL, NC, CA, CO, TX, AZ, some in NYC and Boston. Sure if you are maybe 50/60 and enjoy a calm lifestyle, this is a great state for that.

If you are bored here, you will be bored anywhere you go once the newness has worn out. Where do you think is so much less boring than here in the northeast? Jay

Totally disagree.

This weekend I have the following plans:

Friday night - Staying in because I have to be up early on Saturday AM.
Saturday AM - Up at 5a to go hunting, after hunting (1pm) going to my beach house for a bite to eat. After that going fishing on a charter boat with my friends. At night, we are going to the casino for gambling and food.
Sunday AM - Get breakfast near my house and then going golfing.

All within an hour from my house! Unheard of!

Yep, Sounds like a really boring state to me.

As for OT, hasn't this been a recurring theme almost every Fiscal Period? We know that the State constantly over estimates costs and under estimates revenue. Is it a good PR move? Not in the least, because it's done so that legislators can harp on how they saved us from the precipice that never really existed. This was the case often with Rell, Roland, and Weicker so say what you will but the General Assembly is decent at fixing the issue it creates for itself.

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times: the state faces some long term financial pressures but really is not in the same boat as IL, KS, or now AK, MT, and WY. Never really were. CT has one of the lowest tax to GDP % in the country, so if worst comes to worst there's room to tap (though that's not a good idea at all) and even some gov't meat that hasn't been cut to the bone like in many other states.

Chicken littles will always be the loudest though, which is their right but doesn't make them correct.

Because WHC is the only place to go? New Haven is 30 minutes away from Hartford, Bridgeport about 45 mins away, Norwalk about an hour, and Stamford hour fifteen abouts. If you're living in many parts of Queens it takes nearly 45 minutes to get to anything interesting or of note (if you count parking time if driving). You are at a dearth of things to do that anywhere else would be convenient, and many young professional groups exist that could widen your social circle beyond what you knew in HS.

For what DT Hartford lacks, you make up in availability. Waiting times are incredibly rare for nearly anything, which rarely happens in the more happening parts of say Boston or Brooklyn.

Maybe you just lived in a boring small town? Most of my friends had moved away and now many are back to really start their lives. Few have kids yet but they like being able to just go out for a few, dance a little, and come back at a reasonable hour. Different strokes though.

See, this is funny I've only heard complaints from my friends that tried to live in FL, NC, TX; and Boston and NYC once you start working for a living becomes honestly a bore from what I've heard. I'm not that much older than you but there's something that happens to most people around 25-26 that calm them out for the most part, expectations change.

That said I was never bored in CT, and the only reason I get bored these days is because I'm consciously saving my money so not engaging in everything CT has to offer. Even then though I have a good time Fridays and Saturdays with nature walks, good food, and occasionally going out.
