Question Apartments near Groton

Hello all,

I am considering relocating to Southeast CT in May (I have a job offer in Groton I am considering). I am married and we are considering renting for a year or so to save for a house. We are looking for something with a minimal commute, but a safe area is our first concern. We are in Boston now and have had both of our cars broken into in the past year.

Any recommendations for neighborhoods in Groton or in the immediate area? Would we be better off further away?
Any recommendations for apartment complexes? It seems like a lot of the complexes we have looked at are low income oriented. I don't know what that means in CT, but I know that I wouldn't want to live in most low income housing near Boston.

Any help would be appreciated.
Matt
